Getting a University Degree is Not the Only Way to Pursue a Career in IT

Getting a career in IT is very rewarding as you are well paid and there is constant job demand and need for such skills. However a university degree is not the only way to pursue a career in IT as there are many great IT training programmes available for those that are prepared to study and work hard towards a much better and more secure future.

Students no longer need to undergo 3 to 4 years of extensive full time study in university to work in the IT area. It is no longer necessary to rack up tens of thousands of pounds in student debt. Even if you do complete an IT degree at university you will often find that employers are more interested in job specific practical experience and qualifications that are relevant directly to the job you are applying for. It is of course dependant on the type of job you are looking for but if you are interested in networking a qualification like the MCSE or CCNA that is highly specialised and can be achieved in a relatively short space of time and will enhance your chances of success in this ever growing industry.

Applicants with qualifications such as the MCSE, CCNA, CIW MCITP, MCSD and MCTS are in high demand with good employment prospects arising in some cases even before the chosen training programme has been completed. If you had to study for a university degree you would be waiting for years before you could compete in the job market. Working towards industry recognised qualifications with job specific experience will enable you to advance your career a lot sooner and give you the opportunity to apply for more senior positions. Just look for a specialist training organisation with experience in developing the skills of their candidates who often have little or no prior IT experience and are able to place them straight into work.

With the current economic climate it makes a lot more practical sense to choose a training programme that is going to get you into employment as fast as possible without having an adverse effect on your career. IT training offers both the chance to study at a higher level and to find a senior placement in a relatively short space of time. Why wait for years before you can apply for those much sought after positions? You can advance your career and look forward to a much brighter future with an IT training programme which has to be very good news in this time of global recession.
